FAQs

how much do sessions cost?

£75 for individual therapy. £95 for couples. Sessions are 50 minutes. Some low cost sessions may be available.

why are sessions weekly?

Sessions are generally once a week but can be more often which we can think about together if you would like to. Sessions are, where possible, at the same time and the same place each week. In psychodynamic therapy, meeting at the same time and in the same place each week provides a consistent and reliable framework for the work. This regularity creates a sense of safety and continuity, allowing you to develop trust and explore your thoughts, feelings, relationships, and patterns in greater depth. The predictable setting also gives the therapeutic relationship space to develop over time, so that feelings and experiences that arise between you and the therapist can be noticed and understood as part of the work.

Of course there may be times when this isn’t possible and sessions are missed due to holidays, illness and other life commitments. Where possible I will try to offer an alternative session in the same week if you are able to arrange this with me in advance. I can also offer to move a session online if you are unable to attend in person.

what is psychodynamic therapy?

Psychodynamic therapy is a kind of talking therapy that helps you develop a deeper understanding of yourself. Together, we explore your feelings, relationships and experiences, including how your past may continue to shape the way you feel, think and respond in the present.

Sometimes we can feel stuck in certain thoughts, feelings or behaviours without fully understanding why. The reasons for these patterns may not always be immediately clear or within our awareness. In our work together, we gently explore what may be happening beneath the surface, helping you to make sense of these patterns and bring greater understanding to experiences that may have previously felt confusing or difficult to grasp. Over time, this can create more choice and freedom in how you relate to yourself and others.

how long will it take?

Some people come to therapy for a few weeks or months, others continue to work in an ‘open ended’ way and may work for much longer. This is something we can think about together at the start of our work.
